About and credits

Why I created this project and the people who helped shape it.

About this project

I’m Daniel, a high school student who was diagnosed with congenital hyperinsulinism (CHI) as an infant. I was inspired to develop this project by my own experience with CHI and my parents’ experience managing it when I was young. I created this site to help families understand CHI, the care available today, and the research that may shape care in the future.

I researched the science, read and evaluated the original sources, structured the guide, and wrote and revised its content. I used ChatGPT as a supporting tool to help identify and summarize sources, suggest edits for clarity, and code the webpages. I verified its output against the original research and made all final editorial decisions.

Acknowledgments

Special thanks to my parents, whose experience managing my CHI helped shape this project and whose review provided valuable insight into the realities families face.

With gratitude to the NICU doctors, nurses, and other clinicians at Stanford Medicine’s Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital who cared for me during my first months of life in 2009. Their skill and care had a lasting impact on me and my family.

Feedback

Feedback and suggestions about this guide are welcome at feedback@chifamilyguide.org. I may not be able to reply to every message. This address cannot provide medical advice or help with urgent concerns, so questions about a child’s care should be directed to the child’s clinical team. Please do not send medical records or other sensitive personal information.
